Introducing two people to each other can be intimidating. First, there are those rules of etiquette (whom do you introduce to whom). Then, there's the possibility the two may have nothing in common and end up just staring at each other. With all the risks of things going badly, you may be tempted to just walk to the other side of the room. And leave the job to someone else.
