“We’ve spent a few years going to different churches trying to find one that was a good fit for us. Then the first time we came here, we knew we found it. Pastor Paul’s sermons are always filled with hope, love and some humor. When we drive away after service we know we are leaving with something meaningful. The children’s programs are really good and it keeps our young ones interested in knowing Christ and learning more. Everyone we’ve met has been wonderful. We feel comfortable and welcome. It truly is a family.”

“We began our search for a new church home over a year ago to find a church family that was both closer to home and smaller than our previous church. After visiting many churches, God led us to Family in Christ. Our initial attraction was the quality of the preaching by Pastor Paul that came right from the Bible and applied to each of us in surrendering our lives to Christ. Family in Christ focuses all aspects of the ministry of the church on the centrality of the gospel story of Christ. The warmth and openness of the congregation and their willingness to make us part of the body at Family in Christ have blessed us in making the transition to a new church. Extra blessings have been our Sunday school class on the nature of Jesus and our small group where we are able to grow together in understanding God’s Word, while building a sense of community with other believers. We have found that Family in Christ is a church home where we are able to grow in our spiritual walk with Christ while serving with other believers in mission and ministry activities that assist with God’s great works!”

“Matt & I were married in December of 2004. A couple of months after we were married, we decided that it was time to find a home church. We began the hunt & began praying for God to lead us to the right one. Some of the churches we attended certainly weren’t for us & others were a ‘maybe’ & would need a second chance. We attended Family in Christ & as we walked out of the service, down the cement steps & past the pink flamingo outside, we both looked at each other & said ‘This is it! This one has definitely moved to the top of our list.’ Within a few days we received a little ‘love’ note from Sue Vencill welcoming us & thanking us for coming. I’m pretty sure those ‘maybe’ churches never got their second chance because we have found our home here at Family in Christ.”

“The minute I walked into Family in Christ Church, I felt at home. Here is a place that looks honestly at life and helps me to face its daily ups and downs. At Family in Christ, I find fellowship, support, healing and truth, and I’m encouraged to use my own talents to give back a little of what I receive.”

What We Value …

  1. Authenticity: We strive to make Family in Christ a place where people can be authentic with God and with one another. This means we don’t have to hide our rough edges and struggles. We know that we stumble all the time and so we encourage each other to admit our failings, not hide or try to cover them up. A sense of humor helps us to avoid taking ourselves and our mistakes too seriously—so that we can take the amazing grace of God more seriously.
  2. Community: We’re not interested in becoming a megachurch of anonymous faces, because for us, church is not a disconnected crowd of people who attend public programs together. We strive to be a Christian Community where we are connected to one another so that we may experience “life to the full” that Christ offers us. We’re convinced that quality of life won’t happen if we fail to laugh and cry and work and rest and learn together, connected to God and one another. We believe those connections are best made through small groups that do life together and work to serve our larger community together.
  3. Acceptance: We want to be a safe and accepting place for people, regardless of their background. We understand that we are all at different places in our spiritual journey and we value the diversity of ages, experiences, insights, and gifts people bring to the mix. Because of our desire to remain diverse and mission-driven, we don’t spend energy splitting theological hairs. We work to keep “the main thing,” the main thing and focus with wholehearted commitment on “core Christianity”—those essential truths and practices made clear in the Bible, which Christians across the ages have held in common and lead to spiritual vibrancy.
