What to Expect

Going to a new church for the first time can be intimidating.

1. Welcome

      You wonder:

  • Am I really welcome?
  • Will the people be friendly ...or too friendly?
  • Will I stand out lke a sore thumb?
  • Will they ask me for money?
  • Will my kids enjoy it?
  • What should I wear?
  • Am I welcome if I don’t believe?
  • We want to make your visit an ENJOYABLE experience. You no doubt already have enough stress in life without adding more by not knowing what you are getting into. We’ve designed Family in Christ to be “USER-FRIENDLY” for people, whatever their backgroud, including those who have never been to church before. In fact, half of our people were not regular church attenders before coming here. So if church is new for you, you’re already AMONG FRIENDS! Here’s what to expect:

When you walk in (from either the east or west entrance, take your pick) you enter our lobby. There some FRIENDLY people (we call them “greeters”) will answer any questions you have and direct you to the sanctuary.

    2. Nursery, Children and Youth Programs

If you have kids, our greeters can point you toward our nursery and children’s ministry area (west wing). Junior and Senior High students are also welcome to attend their own gathering in the student room (east wing). If your kids aren’t so sure about going some place “new”, they’re absolutely WELCOME to stay with you in the sanctuary. Should your young ones get fussy, there’s a “cry room” in the back of the sanctuary with a one-way mirror so you can still be a part of the service and not worry about disturbing others.

    3. What Our Worship Looks Like

The service itself begins with a few minutes of UPBEAT worship music (but not so loud that you’ll need earplugs). Someone will then offer a prayer. Members (not our guests!) will have the opportunity to give an offering. Pastor Paul will then speak for about 30 minutes. He will read a PASSAGE FROM THE BIBLE and explain it in a way that is interesting and applicable to how we live our lives. Once a month, we also celebrate Communion (also known as the Eucharist or Lord’s Supper). We finish with a song and are usually done 60 minutes after starting.

    4. Time For Fellowship

After the service, you can pick up your kids from their classrooms and then we hope you’ll stay for a few minutes, MEET some people, perhaps ENJOY a cup of coffee. Church is about God and worship, but it’s also about community and FRIENDSHIP.

THAT’S IT! People are constantly telling us that they really felt comfortable — “at home” are the words we hear most often. We hope you’ll stop by soon!
