What We Believe

Up-to-date language and music may be used to communicate God’s Word for today’s culture, but the message is as old as the Bible itself. We are affiliated with the Christian Reformed Denomination and embrace historic Christian teaching on salvation through Jesus Christ by means of faith in Christ alone. We’ve included references from the Bible for what we believe should you wish to explore these beliefs further.

… About God

We believe that God is the loving Creator of all that exists, both seen and unseen. Being eternal and completely good, God knows all and possesses all power and majesty. He exists as the Trinity, in three persons, yet one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God passionately desires a relationship with us and continually invites us into a relationship of faith, friendship, learning, and service.

… About Jesus Christ

We believe that God expressed himself in human form through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified for the sins of us all, was buried, rose again from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will one day return.

With Prayer and God’s Spirit as our source of power, we will work toward turning the unchurched into attenders, attenders into members, members into disciples, disciples into ministers, and ministers into reproducers.

We believe that the Holy Spirit, sent from God to live inside all who believe in Jesus Christ, teaches, comforts, and empowers us, giving each follower unique gifts that foster unity, interdependence, productivity, Christ-like character, and love among Christians.

We believe that God speaks to us through the Bible and calls on us to responsibly apply His instructions to our lives. Being inspired by God, the Bible is our standard in all we say and do. We strive to present its unchangeable message in clear ways that are free from jargon and understandable to the people of our community.

… About Salvation

We believe that all people are created with dignity and value in the image of God, to live in a vital relationship with God. However, because of our sin, we break our intended relationship with God and experience the destructive consequences of that broken relationship, both spiritually and socially, in this life and beyond. However, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue us from those consequences and to restore our broken relationship with Him. Through Christ’s death on the cross, a perfect act of redemption was accomplished. Salvation comes to people on the basis of God’s grace through their faith in Jesus alone. This free gift of forgiveness comes to those who turn from their sin and entrust themselves to Jesus Christ. Good works and holy living are the natural product of people who repent and believe.
