MOMSnext: A ministry of MOPS International

At MOPS International we believe Better Moms Make a Better World. This is true during the preschool years and beyond. As mothers enter the school years, new challenges and issues arise, but the need for community and hope remains. For this reason we offer MOMSnext, a ministry to mothers of school-age kids.

A MOMSnext group is an open, accepting place for all mothers of school-age kids to come, just as they are, to experience authentic community, personal growth, practical help and spiritual hope. MOMSnext will encourage, equip and develop moms in the next phase of mothering, through the school years.

MOMSnext: A group for mothers of school-age kids

All moms have many concerns when it comes to raising their kids, beginning the minute we discover a child is coming into the family.  We spend the “pre” school years attending to physical needs such as eating, sleeping, walking, talking, playing and potty-ing.  As our children grow and become more independent, we spend much of our time protecting them from themselves and their innate curiousity about the world.  During these early, formative years, we can take comfort in knowing our influence is primary in their lives.

As our children enter school, our influence continues and changes.  As moms, we learn to accept that others are participating in helping our children to grow.  Moms of school age kids face new challenges in mothering.  We spend these years balancing new issues: teaching values, independence, initiative, and relationship skills; promoting study and self-discipline habits; and watching peer influences.

FIC MOMSnext: A group for moms just like you

So many of our questions mask one big underlying question many moms have… “Am I getting this right?”

At FIC MOMSnext, you will find a place to be yourself.  Moms, like children and families, are not perfect.  As moms, we can spend too much time wrapped up in stress, worry and guilt.  But together, we can help lift each other up in friendship and faith. 

Come as you are, be who you are.
