Pastor Paul Jorden

Senior Pastor

 

I have served as Senior Pastor at Family in Christ Community Church since January 1997. Previously I served for 14 years as Pastor at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Fort Collins. I double-majored in biology & geology at Western Michigan University & received an M.Div. degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. I also earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Denver Seminary.

I’m passionate about communicating God’s truth with clarity, warmth, & relevance to our daily lives. I enjoy leading a vibrant church with a gifted, dedicated staff.

I also serve as a Church Visitor & Consultant for regional churches in the Christian Reformed denomination. In addition to leading, offering pastoral care & preaching, I enjoy summiting 13ers on the Front Range & tracking down rare birds & wildflowers.

My wife Judy & I have enjoyed 40 years of marriage. We have two grown children & four grandchildren, the apples of our eye.

Tony N. Schenk

Worship & Technology Pastor

 

I am a Colorado native and have been married to my beautiful wife, Angela, since 1999. We share a wonderful daughter named Mya. I have been a part of Family in Christ since 1997 as the Worship Pastor and a few years as the Student Ministry Pastor. Currently I enjoy leading and planning a vibrant Worship Arts Ministry with a desire to lead others in creative, authentic praise and worship.

Carrie Evans

Youth Pastor

 

I’ve had the joy of leading the Middle and High School students at Family in Christ since 2006. It has been awesome to see students grow in their confidence, faith, service and understanding of Jesus and the Bible through our relational approach to our youth programs. My husband, Harley, is an amazing youth mentor and small group leader and is also a General Contractor Estimator. It has been such a huge blessing to have our identical twin daughters grow up in our church and become actively involved in youth group. Our family loves hiking, Disney, softball, reading and Jesus!

What’s the best Halloween costume you’ve ever had?
My family all dressed in the Hunger games theme one year and I was Effie! Another year my husband and I were a pair of neon green fuzzy dice together.
 
What is your most-used emoji & why?
It’s a tie – The one laughing so hard it’s crying because I love to goof around with people, have fun & most of all LAUGH, and the one winking with its tongue out because it’s just sort of fun & goes with just about any sentiment
 
Have you ever binge-watched a show & if so, what show?
Yes! The Flash & Psyche. My kids made me do it….well not really. Oh and Shark Tank & the Olympics!
 
Where is your happy place?
Either Bellows or Lanikai beach in Hawaii or California Adventure (Disney) or Disney World or pretty much anywhere outside in the sunshine!
 

What or who inspires you the most & why?
My husband. He works harder than anyone I know, forgives quickly, makes me laugh & cares deeply about everyone he meets. Also he goes along with me & my crazy ideas!

I grew up in Broomfield & love life in Colorado. I graduated from Colorado Christian University in May, 2016 with a degree in education. I also met my wife Katie at CCU & was recently married on June 2nd, 2018! Upon graduating college, I joined the staff as a Youth Leader, which is the same youth group that I attended in high school & have served as a leader for seven years. I love youth, sports, board games, the outdoors & of course Jesus!

If you could grab coffee with anyone from the Bible, who would it be & why?
Peter because he was one of Jesus’ closest friends, he made several mistakes, yet still was a rock for Christ & he got to witness the miracles of Jesus.

I came to Family in Christ in 2008 with my husband Aaron (a lifelong member). I started as a volunteer teacher then worked as a Communication Coordinator and am now the PEAK Children’s Ministry Director. I have two children Lilliana & Ella growing at the PEAK as well.

King David – he was a man after Gods own heart & yet he messed up constantly. Regardless, he ran back to God so deeply & so passionately & that kind of love is so amazing to me.

My husband Chris & I have been married since 2007, we have three boys: Blake, Caden & Chase. I have a B.A. in Human Development & a minor in elementary education from Metropolitan State University. I grew up going to Family Christ since 1998 & have worked in the Children’s Ministry at Family in Christ since January 2014. I’ve always had a passion for working with kids, from running a full time in-home daycare, to raising three rambunctious boys, I have firsthand knowledge on what it takes to work with kids & am extremely happy to follow the path God has laid out for me.

I was born & raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I attended St. John’s College for my teaching degree. My husband, Mickey & I have one son & one daughter & two grandsons. My passion is presidential history. I’ve taught school for 25 years & I began Children’s Ministry & teaching Sunday school in 1968.

Mickey & I joined Family in Christ in 2001. I love watching children grow in their love & knowledge of Jesus Christ & helping them come to a saving relationship with Him. I love volunteering at Growing Home & being a part of Operation Christmas Child.

I grew up in Wheatridge, Colorado, and moved to this area when I was six years old. I’ve been married to by husband Ralph since 1978. We have two adult children, wonderful daughter & son-in-laws, and four amazing grandchildren. I am a retired teacher. We have been attending Family in Christ since 2008 & I have been on the Women’s Ministry team ever since.

Morgan Kellum

Life Group Coordinator

 

My husband Brett & I and our four kids moved to the area in 2013. We stay busy, as you can imagine, running the kids here & there, but when we’re not in the van, we enjoy inviting people into our home for a meal & to connect. Being a part of a community is important to us & we look for opportunities to connect with our neighbors & our church family. That trickles over into my role as Life Group Coordinator & my desire to see everyone in our church experiencing true & authentic relationships. In my years working here at Family In Christ I have been challenged with helping others to discover the value of community.

Judy Jorden

Outreach Director

 

I have served in various adult ministries at Family in Christ; presently I am the Outreach Director. My passion is to see people “Loving Their Neighbors” with compassion & grace – just like Jesus did. I enjoy connecting others to Outreach ministries that fit their personalities & skills (I guess that comes from my 10 years of being a Career Counselor). I got my MEd from CSU & a BA in Biology from CU. I’m a Colorado girl through and through. Paul & I have been married since 1978 & we have two grown children & four entertaining grandchildren.

I’m married with four children & nine grandchildren. I graduated with a degree in building trades in May, 1976. Then I started commercial driving in October, 1976. My wife and I started attending FIC in 2005. I started working for the church in January, 2014 & have been very blessed all my life.

I joined the FIC staff in 2003. I am a native, born in Leadville. My husband passed away in 2011 & I am learning how to deal with my new normal of being a widow. I enjoy all kinds of crafts from woodworking & decorative painting to paper crafts. I joined the Stampin’ Up! family in 1997 & am actively involved in our Card Ministry. I now have a new passion in Bible Journaling where I can enjoy my creativity & my love for God & spending time in His Word. Watch out blog world, I may just surprise you one day!

My husband David & I have lived in Colorado since 1988 & call our beautiful state home. I graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI with a Math degree many moons ago & recently retired from a 33 year career in the Defense Industry, most recently with Lockheed Martin. Having grown up in the Christian Reformed Church, I’m honored to enter a new phase of life & service to our Lord at Family in Christ Church. I live in Broomfield & enjoy spending time with my daughter Jessie & son-in-law Tony Huerta, but my real joy is my granddaughters Mia & Ava as they live in Broomfield as well. My two 4 legged sons, Diesel and Leuk, keep me busy along with her other hobbies of camping, aerobics & leisure travel.

Terry & I married in 1979; moved to Westminster in 1985. Our children, Tim & Meghan, now have families of their own. When looking for a new church in 2004, one with Jesus as the focus, a quality worship experience & opportunities to serve, we found Family in Christ. I’ve coordinated Life Groups & Midweek Dinner ministries for a season & have been the volunteer newsletter editor since moving into the new facility. I help facilitate the Craft Fair, Angel Tree & enjoy finding ways to help others connect through fellowship opportunities. I work part time at another church.

I would love to visit the Holy Land. I’ve been to Ephesus & saw where the Apostle Paul preached. I was struck by how much it impacted me & would love to see & experience where Jesus lived.
